Marshfield wrestlers have five champions, finish second at Campbellsport Invitational

CAMPBELLSPORT – The Marshfield wrestling team had five individual champions and finished in second place at the Campbellsport Cougar Invitational on Saturday at Campbellsport High School.

Mitch Hertel and Ryan Willsman both completed undefeated days with pins in their respective championship matches for the Tigers.

Hertel pinned Dylan Schwersinske of Mayville in 33 seconds at 170 pounds, while Willsman took care of R.J. Carreon of Beaver Dam in 3:42 to win the 182-pound title.

Marshfield’s other three individual champions were Anthony Kanable at 126, Devon Klement at 145 and Josh Lang at 195.

Noah Gerdes took second at 113 for Marshfield; Jared Jurgenson (120), Anthony Christmas (132) and Jeremy Brost (152) were third; and Brandon Cramer (220), Noah Schulz (138) and Nic Humphrey (285) each finished fifth for the Tigers.

Wauwatosa West/East edged Marshfield 202-201.5 to capture the team title.

Marshfield will wrestle at Rhinelander in a nonconference match on Thursday.
