Stratford softball holds off Chequamegon

STRATFORD — Kiana Weiler earned the complete-game victory and knocked in a run to lift the Stratford softball team to a 3-2 nonconference win over Chequamegon on Monday.
Brittany Bredemann continued her hot hitting, going 3-for-3;Sammy Griesbach added a pair of hits; and Valieda Crillo and Weiler had RBIs for the Tigers, who improve to 9-2.
Weiler struck out four, did not walk a batter, and scattered eight hits to earn the win for the Tigers.
Stratford scored single runs in the third, fourth, and sixth innings and held off a rally by Chequamegon (4-3) in the seventh. The Screaming Eagles scored one against Weiler, but could not plate the tying run.
Stratford hosts Pittsville on Tuesday.
