Maple Avenue project update: May 26, 2015
Phase 1: Maple Avenue from Veterans Parkway to Fourth Street and Third Street from Maple Avenue to Central Avenue
By Tom Turchi
Marshfield City Engineer
Sewer and water main has been installed on Maple Avenue from Fourth Street to Second Street, including Third Street from Central Avenue to Maple Avenue. Earth Inc. has begun installing laterals on Maple Avenue from Third Street to Fourth Street and anticipates following up with the installation of storm sewer later this week. If the water main and water sample pass pressure and bacteria tests, respectively, in Maple between Third Street and Second Street, Earth will continue with the installation of service laterals and storm sewer north of Third Street. Grading, underdrain, and placement of base materials will shadow the installation of the storm sewer.
Frontier has confirmed that their proposed utility relocations for this project have been approved, and materials have been ordered. The conduit on Third Street is in conflict with grading operations and will need to be lowered. This work is scheduled to begin Monday, June 1, and take approximately three days. Another conflict was noted with their conduit in the intersection of Second Street and Maple Avenue, and more work will be needed to resolve this conflict.
We Energies will be replacing the gas mains on this project, will begin staking the new gas mains this week, and will begin reconstruction next on June 1.
It is anticipated that concrete paving will take approximately three weeks and is expected to begin about mid- to late-June. Trierweiler Construction is a subcontractor to Earth Inc. and will be the paving contractor for Maple Avenue. Paving of the main traffic lanes will take place with two placement operations with curb/gutter and sidewalk placement taking place following mainline paving.
