RUDOLPH — A 25-year-old Pittsville man was injured in a car crash in the early morning hours of Friday, June 26. When the Wood County Sheriff’s Department arrived on the scene, they located the vehicle in the woods to the north of State Highway 66, according to a release from the department.
The driver was the lone occupant of the vehicle and had to be extricated from the car and was transported to Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital by the Spirit Helicopter. The release stated that speed and alcohol are thought to be factors in the crash. According to the release, State Highway 66 was closed for about two hours during the incident but is now open.
The Wood County Sheriff’s Department is not yet releasing the name of the man. A hospital spokesperson said the man was in fair condition.
The Wood County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Portage County Sheriff’s Department, Wood County Rescue, Rudolph Fire Department, United Ambulance, and Spirit of Marshfield.
