Featured MAPS pet of the week: Punky Brewster
By Janet Gilbert

Punky Brewster — a.k.a. PB — is a 4-year-old little girl that was found as a stray. She is incredibly loving and chatty. She is as playful as a kitten but mature enough to sit and have a conversation with you.
She has been picked over because her blood tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. This means that her immune system might become weaker over the course of her life. She must always be an indoor kitty and get good nutrition and updated vaccines.
This infection is not contagious to people or other species. It is passed from cat to cat in the outdoor setting where unaltered cats fight and bite. It is passed to other cats through deep bites when the saliva gets into the tissues. It is not passed to other cats through casual contact, litter boxes, or food or water.
If you are looking to adopt and would consider a “special needs” kitty, please consider Punky Brewster.
