Marshfield Clinic Post 54 Senior Legion baseball team takes first at Eau Claire Tournament
Binder throws shutout on the mound for Blue Devils

EAU CLAIRE — The Marshfield Clinic Post 54 Senior American Legion baseball team ran its win streak to eight games before losing its third game at the Eau Claire Legion Tournament this past weekend but recovered to win Sunday to take the team championship.
On Thursday Marshfield defeated Everest 12-2 in a Wisconsin Valley Legion League contest at Jack Hackman Field.
Mitch Susa struck out two to earn the win on the mound and also went 2-for-2 with an RBI for the Blue Devils.
Shane Coker had two hits and three RBIs, Sam Neville had two hits and two RBIs, and Jack Donahue and Trevor Schwecke also had two hits apiece for Marshfield.
On Friday Marshfield opened play at the Eau Claire Tournament with a 12-4 win over Green Bay Southwest.
Jeremy Binder threw a complete game for the Blue Devils as Nathan Dupee, Neville, Coker, Susa and Donahue each delivered two hits in the win.
Schwecke hit a home run in a 4-0 win over Winona (Minnesota) on Saturday afternoon before the Blue Devils had their winning streak snapped at eight with a 3-1 loss to host Eau Claire on Saturday night.
Marshfield went on to beat Lake Zurich (Illinois) 13-3 on Sunday to finish the tournament with a 3-1 record and improve to 19-4 this season. Results from Sunday’s game were not provided.
The Blue Devils finish their regular-season schedule this week. Marshfield hosts Eau Claire at 7 p.m. Tuesday in its final home game of the season. The Blue Devils round out the regular season with league games at Stevens Point on Wednesday at Wausau on Thursday.
Marshfield will play in a Class AAA regional from July 21-24.
