Become a certified babysitter with Continuing Education training course
MARSHFIELD — Boys and girls 11 years old and older can learn the ABCs of babysitting in UW-Marshfield/Wood County Continuing Education’s Babysitter’s Training Course. Register for one of two sessions on July 31 or August 28, 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
When the parents leave, a babysitter is responsible for keeping the children safe, fed, and entertained. Through hands-on demonstrations, students learn the babysitting basics like feeding, diapering, selecting age-appropriate games, and handling bedtime and discipline issues.
Instructor Katie Weisbrod teaches important skills like identifying safety hazards and caring for common injuries and emergencies. Students will also learn how to find and interview for babysitting jobs as well as how to communicate with parents, be prepared, and meet expectations.
Enrollees can become American Red Cross-certified babysitters. The course cost is $99 and includes the babysitter’s training handbook, emergency reference guide, and training CD-ROM. Pre-registration is required. Register online at marshfield.uwc.edu/ce, or call the Continuing Education Office at 715-389-6520.
