Marshfield Convention & Visitors Bureau set to stage Maple Fall Fest
For Hub City Times
MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield Convention & Visitors Bureau is finalizing plans for this year’s Maple Fall Fest. Last year over 20,000 visitors and 150+ vendors made for a record attendance.
Of course the star of this annual event is the local maple syrup. The whole family will enjoy the daily pancake breakfast featuring locally sourced maple syrup, buttermilk or potato pancakes, and a special maple sausage crafted by Wenzel Farms exclusively for Maple Fall Fest. After eating their fill, attendees can see how maple syrup is made, take home some syrup, or get the tools and knowledge to tap their own trees and cook up some homemade maple goodness.
There will be two contests with cash prizes up to $250. Syrup makers may enter the “Best of Marshfield Maple Syrup” contest, and bakers are invited to bring in their original treats for the “Maple Dessert Baking Contest.”
Maple Fall Fest is known for hosting some of the best handmade craft vendors from all over the Midwest and beyond for the ultimate shopping experience. Vendors will offer home decor, clothing, jewelry, wood carving, metal art, and everything in between. Plus, local Amish booths will feature handmade baskets, rugs, fresh noodles, and bakery items.
New for 2015 will be “Cooking with Ruth Elderbrook” on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 1 p.m. Ruth Elderbrook is the owner of A Slice of Heaven Catering and star of “Cooking with Ruth” on Marshfield Community Television and marshfieldtv.com. Elderbrook is well known for her cheesecakes, and she and her husband and business partner Gary will share some baking and cooking secrets as well as some tasty samples. The fun will continue on Saturday night at the Maple Fall Fest “After Party” hosted by the Chestnut Center for the Arts, 208 S. Chestnut Ave. in Marshfield. This event will feature live music, food, and drinks and begins at 7 p.m. Saturday night will also feature the second annual “Light Up the Night” 2k Glow Walk sponsored by the Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
