Newman Catholic downs Stratford in Marawood South volleyball
Tigers fall to 1-1 in conference with home loss

STRATFORD — Wausau Newman Catholic held off a comeback attempt by Stratford, cruising in the fourth game, to beat the Tigers 3-1 in a Marawood Conference South Division volleyball battle of early-season unbeatens on Tuesday at Stratford High School.
Newman won 26-24, 25-17, 23-25, 25-14 to move to 3-0 in the Marawood South. Stratford is now 1-1 in the conference.
Savannah Schillinger had 15 kills and seven digs; Mazie Nagel added seven kills; Jadyn Dahlke had 19 assists; and Valedia Crillo, MaKayla Krall, and Nagel each had eight digs for Stratford.
The Tigers have a nonconference match at Owen-Withee on Thursday.
