MARSHFIELD — The Friends of the Marshfield Public Library (FOMPL) invite you to join their yearly campaign to promote children’s literacy in the community: Give a Kid a Book. Every book donated to Give a Kid a Book gives children the opportunity to experience the excitement that reading brings. Contributions to the Give a Kid a Book program also allow children to discover the joy that comes from owning their very own book.
The Give a Kid a Book program has grown every year since its inception because of the generosity of the Marshfield community. In 2014 more than 1,800 books were delivered to 12 local children’s service organizations. Board and baby books, picture books, beginning and easy readers, and books for elementary through high school students are all accepted. Books may be new or very gently used.
If you need help selecting a book to donate, ask for suggestions at the Marshfield Public Library. You may also leave a monetary donation to Give a Kid a Book at the library, and FOMPL will shop for you.
Donations may be brought to the Marshfield Public Library during November and December. Drop books off at the special display or at the circulation desk, and indicate that they are for the Give a Kid a Book program. For more information about the program, contact the children’s department at the library. The Marshfield Public Library can be reached at 715-387-8494.
