Loyal knocks off Spencer boys basketball
Greyhounds connect on nine 3-pointers to win at Spencer

SPENCER — Loyal jumped out to a nine-point lead at halftime and held off Spencer the rest of the way to win 71-62 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division boys basketball game Friday night at Spencer High School.
The loss knocks Spencer out of the ranks of the unbeaten in the Cloverbelt East as it falls to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the conference. Loyal is now 4-2 and 3-2 in the Cloverbelt East.
Loyal led 30-21 at halftime and won by nine after both teams scored 41 points in a high-scoring second half.
Riley Geiger made four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 24 points for Loyal. Cameron Brussow made all 10 of his free throws and scored 23 points, and Luke Bogdonovich added four more 3-pointers for the Greyhounds and finished with 13 points. Loyal was 9 of 15 from 3-point range overall.
Bobby Pilz had 16 points, and Ryan Busse dropped in 15 for the Rockets.
Spencer plays at Neillsville on Tuesday.
