Wednesday, Dec. 16
Vesper man taken into custody following disturbance
Police responded at 10:55 p.m. to a report that a male subject was causing a disturbance on the 100 block of E. 14th St. Upon arrival, the caller reported the man had left the scene in a vehicle. He could not be located.
A short time later the caller contacted police again and advised that the man was back and was being physically restrained. Police arrived and took the man, a 55-year-old from Vesper, into custody.
The man was transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking. He later asked to be taken to the hospital for a possible injury, and he was transported to Saint Joseph’s Hospital, where he was medically cleared, and then to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office jail for a probation violation.
Investigation regarding the altercation will continue.
Marshfield police assist Wood County Probation and Parole
Marshfield officers assisted Wood County Probation and Parole with a home visit. A 41-year-old man had a valid warrant through Wood County and was arrested. He was booked at the Marshfield Police Department and then transported to Wood County Jail after not being able to post bond.
Thursday, Dec. 17
Woman receives scam phone call
At 3:10 p.m. a Marshfield woman reported that an unknown man called her. After she acknowledged who she was verbally, the man told her she owed money because she had defaulted on a payday loan. The woman said she had never had this type of loan and that she did not owe anyone anything.
The man would not directly say what company he was with, but he did accurately say the woman’s Social Security number. In checking the telephone number the man called from, an internet search indicated the number was associated with a scam.
The woman said that this was the third time this year she had received a similar call but that this was the first time she reported it. The woman was advised to contact credit reporting agencies and inform them that someone has her Social Security number.
Friday, Dec. 18
Delivered package missing from Depot Street residence
A Marshfield woman reported that a package was missing from her residence on the 300 block of W. Depot St. The woman stated she had received notification that the package was dropped off on Dec. 17, but it was not there when she returned home.
The woman did not have insurance on the package and had no suspects. A neighborhood canvass yielded no results.
Woman who obtained cellphone fraudulently reports missing minutes
A 26-year-old Marshfield woman reported that she had signed up for a free cellular telephone by using an address where she did not reside. She stated she did this because only a certain number of people per household could receive a free phone, and someone at her residence already had one.
The woman wished to report that someone had used all the minutes on the account. It was unknown how many people had access to the phone.
The company that provided the phone was notified that the woman used false information.
Saturday, Dec. 19
Medications stolen from Central Avenue residence
A man reported that three medications had been stolen from his residence on South Central Avenue over the past week. Investigation is ongoing.
Stolen vehicle located
A stolen vehicle out of Clark County was located on the 1000 block of Sawyer Drive at 2:08 a.m. Police monitored the vehicle until a Clark County deputy arrived with its owner. The deputy turned the vehicle over to the owner.
Man taken into custody for battery, sexual assault
A Marshfield woman came into the Marshfield Police Department at 10:04 a.m. to report an altercation with her 35-year-old husband. After investigation the man was taken into custody and booked on charges of substantial battery-domestic and third degree sexual assault.
Charges will be referred to the Wood County district attorney’s office. Contact prohibition is in effect.
Marshfield woman arrested after punching man
At 5:58 p.m. a Marshfield man reported having been in a verbal argument with a 33-year-old woman with whom he resides. The woman wanted the man to leave the apartment, and while he was gathering some of his belongings, the woman struck him in the face with a closed fist.
The woman was arrested, medically cleared, and then turned over to staff at Wood County Jail. A request for charges will follow.
Sunday, Dec. 20
Rental property not returned, Marshfield man charged with theft
On April 4 a 38-year-old Marshfield man rented a construction plank from a store and as of Dec. 20 had not returned it. The store had made numerous attempts by phone and certified mail to contact the man to have the item returned but was unsuccessful.
The man had made no efforts to contact the store nor any attempts to return the item he rented. Charges of theft of rental property will be forwarded to the Wood County DA’s office.
Possible restraining order violation reported
A Marshfield woman reported a possible restraining order violation by her 57-year-old ex-husband. A neighbor had seen the man near the woman’s house looking at a vehicle in the driveway on the evening of Dec. 19. The woman also stated that the man sends her text messages often that she did not think were necessary and the he drives past frequently.
Upon review, police found that the restraining order had been dismissed in August. Police contacted the man, and he admitted that his behaviors were wrong regardless of the order or not and that he would refrain from his behaviors. The man was issued a verbal warning.
Wallet, phone stolen from vehicle on Blodgett Street
A Marshfield woman reported that a wallet and phone were stolen from her vehicle some time between 9 and 10 a.m. while it was parked on the 200 block of W. Blodgett St. The wallet contained $30 in cash and various bank cards.
The woman stated that vehicle was locked and that there were no signs of forced entry. The woman was advised to cancel her bank cards. Investigation will continue.
Unknown man makes unlawful entry into vehicle
A Marshfield man reported witnessing an unknown male in his vehicle at 9:25 p.m. The vehicle owner yelled, “What are you doing to my car?” and the male then ran; got into a silver, four-door Grand Am; and drove away.
The owner stated that nothing was taken from the vehicle but that items had been moved. Latent prints were collected from a GPS unit the suspect had handled, and they were placed into evidence.
Twenty-two-year-old arrested for Wood County warrant
Police arrested a 22-year-old Marshfield woman on a valid Wood County warrant. She was booked at the Marshfield Police Department and then transported to Wood County Jail after she was unable to post bond.
Monday, Dec. 21
Marshfield police assist Marathon County deputies in Stratford
At 12:43 a.m. the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office requested mutual aid on South Weber Avenue in Stratford for a 30-year-old woman pounding on the door and trying to gain entry into the trailer home of an ex-boyfriend. Marshfield police arrived and found the woman yelling and screaming. She was taken into custody.
Custody of the woman was transferred to Marathon County deputies upon their arrival.
Lightup snowman stolen on Elm Street
A Marshfield woman reported that someone took a lightup snowman from her property on North Elm Street some time between noon and 3:42 p.m. Police conducted a neighborhood canvass, which produced no further information. There are no suspects.
Marshfield man cited for THC possession
Officers went to a residence on the 700 block of N. Cedar Ave. to attempt to pick up a 35-year-old woman on a valid warrant. Upon knocking, a 37-year-old Marshfield man opened the door, and an odor of burnt marijuana came from the residence. The man admitted to smoking marijuana inside the residence.
The man allowed officers to enter the residence and turned over a metal grinder containing 1.4 grams of THC and a glass pipe with residue, which later field tested positive for THC. Both items were placed into evidence, and the man was cited for possession of THC.
Tuesday, Dec. 22
Woman violates probation rules
A Marshfield woman reported that on Dec. 20 a 26-year-old Marshfield woman had made contact with her, which was a violation of the 26-year-old’s probation rules. The 26-year-old saw the other woman purchasing a pizza, approached her, and called out her name.
The woman said the 26-year-old stood behind the vehicle she was riding in to block her from leaving. The 26-year-old eventually moved, and the woman was able to leave.
Police contacted the 26-year-old’s probation agent to inform her of the incident.
Man detained for THC possession following traffic stop
During a traffic stop near the intersection of 14th Street and Cherry Avenue at 2:18 p.m., police observed a 50-year-old Marshfield man perform furtive movements. Subsequently, the immediate lunge area was searched, where marijuana and a pipe were located. A complete vehicle search was later conducted, and two other paraphernalia items were located.
The man was taken into custody, booked, and transported to Wood County Jail. Charges for felony possession of THC and three counts of possession of paraphernalia will be directed to the Wood County DA’s office.
