MARSHFIELD — For the fifth consecutive year, the community showed up in force at the Marshfield Area Empty Bowls event to raise funds for local food pantry Soup or Socks. The event — held on Saturday, March 12, at Hotel Marshfield — raised $15,000, according to Soup or Socks Director Cheryl Lewis Hartl.
Admission to the event was $10, and attendees dined on various soups provided by numerous area restaurants. Guests also selected a homemade bowl to keep, which were made by several groups in the community.
“We cannot express our gratitude enough to the donors, volunteers, and all who attended Empty Bowls on March 12. The support for this event and Soup or Socks is overwhelming. Thank you for helping us serve people in need in our community,” Lewis Hartl said.
