Auburndale’s Weinfurter, Stratford’s Schmidt selected as second team all-Marawood South

MARSHFIELD — Auburndale sophomore Caleb Weinfurter and Stratford senior Derrick Schmidt were named to the second team of the 2015-2016 Marawood Conference South Division Boys Basketball Team.
Weinfurter led Auburndale in scoring at 10.8 points per game and hit a team-high 29 3-pointers in conference play.
Schmidt led Stratford in scoring (13 points per game) and rebounding (7 per game), which was good for second in the conference.
Auburndale’s Christian Firnstahl and Dylan Peplinski and Stratford’s Ethan Nagel and Nick Stoflet were honorable mention choices.
Marathon’s Xavier Lechleitner and Wausau Newman Catholic’s Dane Fronek were named Co-Players of the Year and were among the five first-team all-conference selections.
Joining them on the first team were Preston Wirkus of Marathon, Joe Grundhoffer of Wisconsin Rapids Assumption, and Jake Allind of Pittsville.
