Where are they now: Local athletes making mark on college level

A number of former local high school athletes have moved on to the next level and are playing collegiate sports across the country. Periodically, Hub City Times will publish a college sports roundup, updating readers of some of those athletes’ exploits.
Johnson earns All-American honors for UW-River Falls hockey
2013 Spencer High School graduate Paige Johnson, who played high school hockey for the Marshfield co-op team, earned big-time honors playing for University of Wisconsin-River Falls women’s hockey.
Johnson was named to the first team of the all-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women’s hockey squad and was picked as an AHCA/CCM Division III second-team all-American for the second-straight year.
Johnson led the Falcons in plus/minus rating (+33) and ranked 13th in all of Division III women’s hockey in points for a defenseman with 17 (four goals, 13 assists).
River Falls finished the season with a 23-6-2 record after losing the NCAA Division III championship game 5-1 to Plattsburgh State (N.Y.) on March 19. Johnson had three shots on goal but did not score in the title match.
Fleischmann wraps up sophomore season at Viterbo
Marshfield Columbus Catholic High School graduate Jared Fleischmann recently completed his sophomore season on the Viterbo University men’s basketball team.
Fleischmann, a sophomore point guard, started all 30 games this season for the V-Hawks, averaging a team-high 31 minutes per game as Viterbo finished the season 13-17 overall.
He averaged 8.3 points, 4.1 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game for Viterbo. His season-high 21 points came in a game against Dordt (Iowa) on Nov. 14.
Dolezal ends wrestling career at Minnesota
Marshfield High School graduate Brad Dolezal finished up his collegiate career on the University of Minnesota wrestling team in February.
Dolezal, who had a 172-7 record and won three WIAA state titles at Marshfield before graduating in 2011, went 6-5 overall and 0-3 in Big Ten matches this season at 165 pounds for the Golden Gophers.
Dolezal ended his Minnesota career with a 57-42 overall record.
Holbrook shines for UW-La Crosse swim team
Emma Holbrook, a 2014 Marshfield High School graduate, competed for the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women’s swimming and diving team this past season.
Holbrook swam in multiple events but most frequently the 100- and 200-meter backstroke and on the 200 and 400 medley relay teams.
Holbrook had team-best finishes in both the 100 and 200 backstroke at the Rochester (Minn.) Invitational on Dec. 4-6 with times of 57.50 seconds and 2:02.83, respectively.
She also swam in the 50 freestyle, 100 individual medley, and the 200 individual medley, in which she had a season-best time of 2:13.15 at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Feb. 26-27 at Brown Deer.
