MARSHFIELD — Jake Brueggen tossed a four-hit shutout to help the Marshfield baseball team to a 5-0 victory over Wisconsin Rapids on Thursday at Jack Hackman Field.
Marshfield scored three times in the first inning and added two more in the fourth to give Brueggen more than enough run support.
Brueggen struck out five and walked three to earn the complete-game victory for the Tigers, who swept two games from Rapids this week and are now 6-8 overall and 3-3 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference. Rapids falls to 3-7 and 2-6 in the Valley.
Paul Maguire had two hits and Trevor Schwecke drove in two runs for the Tigers.
Marshfield’s next game is Tuesday at home against Merrill.
