Auburndale softball holds on to beat Newman Catholic
Apaches win fourth game in a row

WAUSAU — The Auburndale softball team won its fourth game in a row, holding off a late rally to beat Wausau Newman Catholic 6-4 in a Marawood Conference South Division matchup Thursday at Sunnyvale Park.
Auburndale scored three runs in the first and second innings and held off the Cardinals in the final inning when they scored twice to come within two.
Brooke Anderson and Sydney Schmutzer each had two hits, and Hannah Bolder had two RBIs for the Apaches.
Robyn Brokish threw a complete game, striking out six, to earn the win for the Apaches, who are now 6-7-1 overall and 3-5 in the Marawood South.
Auburndale hosts Marathon on Friday.
