MARSHFILED — Two residents of Marshfield challenged themselves outside of their age group in a grappling tournament, the St. Croix Grappling Games, held in Hudson on April 30.
Jason Tucker, age 38, qualified for the over-30 masters division, and Kade McManus, 15, qualified for the teen division. Instead of going with their ages, each decided to compete in the main adult division of their respective weight classes.
The tournament included two types of competition: no gi, grappling without a uniform, and gi, grappling with a uniform. Tucker took second place in no gi, and McManus placed third in no gi and second in gi.
Both men are students of Marshfield BJJ, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu school that is part of Ki Nagare Dojo in Marshfield. More information on the classes can be found on the school’s website kndojo.com.
