SPENCER — The Spencer softball team dropped a 3-2 decision to Chippewa Falls McDonell in a nonconference matchup Thursday at Spencer High School.
Sadie Mercier and Cinnamin Harwood each had two hits, and Harwood and Lexi Baehr drove in runs for the Rockets, who are now 14-4 this season. McDonell is now 11-3.
“We lost a tough one to a very good team,” Spencer coach Jason Gorst said. “It was a good experience for us and a good example of how you need to be able to hit in clutch moments. We had our chances. We just have to capitalize.”
The Rockets finish their Cloverbelt Conference East Division season Friday with a doubleheader at Loyal/Granton. With one win, Spencer clinches the outright conference title.
