CHIPPEWA FALLS — The seventh-seeded Marshfield softball team pulled off a big upset, beating No. 2 seed and defending sectional champion Chippewa Falls 11-8 in a WIAA Division 1 regional final Thursday at Casper Park.

The Tigers (15-12) will play the winner of Friday’s regional final between Hudson and Wausau West on Tuesday in a sectional semifinal. If West wins, the game will be at Marshfield. Hudson will host the game if it beats West.

Chippewa Falls scored three times in the first inning and led 3-2 after four innings and 8-5 after five before the Tigers rallied.

Marshfield scored four times in the sixth and twice in the seventh to pull out the win.

Kaitlyn Konrardy hit a home run, Lexi Dupee drove in three runs, and Emily Draeger had three hits and scored three times for Marshfield. The Tigers had 16 hits in all and only struck out once in the victory.

Megan Donahue earned the win on the mound despite walking 13. She allowed just five hits and struck out 14 to keep the Tigers in it. Donahue also had two RBIs at the plate.
