Fifty-year-old alleged to have made vulgar remarks
At 1:01 p.m. a Marshfield man reported ongoing harassment from a 50-year-old Marshfield man. The man stated that the 50-year-old made several vulgar remarks to him and his girlfriend when seeing them around town.
Police contacted the 50-year-old, and he stated that he did not make the alleged remarks. Both parties were told to have no further contact with each other.
Friday, May 20
Vehicle window damaged on Sawyer Drive
A Marshfield man stated that some time between 11:50 p.m. on May 19 and 1:38 p.m. on May 20 his vehicle’s front passenger window was damaged. The vehicle was parked in a parking lot on the 1000 block of N. Sawyer Drive. There are no suspects.
Impaired man steals wine from friend’s mother
A Marshfield woman reported that a 20-year-old Marshfield man, a friend of her daughter, came to her house uninvited between 2 and 2:30 a.m. The woman stated the man was impaired and woke up everyone in the house. The man was asked to leave, and he did.
When the woman woke up later, she noticed two bottles of wine were missing.
Police contacted the man, and he admitted to taking the wine. He stated that he would pay the woman for the stolen wine. The woman agreed and arranged that her daughter would pick up the money at the man’s house.
Marshfield man reports suspicious account activity
A Marshfield man came into the Marshfield Police Department at 7:58 a.m. to report charges on his bank debit card that he did not make. His bank had noticed the suspicious activity on his account and declined one transaction and held the other pending.
Neither the man nor his bank suffered a loss. The man’s bank canceled his debit card account and issued him a new one.
There are no suspects at this time. The incident may have been a data error by a business system as the man had made a transaction the day prior.
Welfare check requested for man, child
Two Marshfield women reported seeing a man acting strangely at 2:19 p.m. on the 700 block of W. Kalsched St. The women stated that the man was with an approximately 1-year-old child that was crying loudly, which seemed to upset the man as he forcefully put the child in a car seat. The women stated that the man then sat in the driver’s seat and banged his head on the driver side window approximately seven times.
The women were concerned for the welfare of the child and called 911. Police identified the owner of the vehicle and sent a request to Rusk County for a deputy to check the welfare of the child and the man.
Man reportedly violates temporary restraining order
A Marshfield woman reported at 2:37 p.m. that a 38-year-old Marshfield man violated a temporary restraining order related to their children by going to the children’s school. The man was taken into custody, booked, posted bond, and was released. A charge of knowingly violating a child abuse order is being requested through Wood County district attorney’s office.
Pittsville woman warned for harassment
Police received a report of harassment that occurred at a business on the 2000 block of N. Central Ave. A 27-year-old Pittsville woman came into the business at 4:49 p.m. and requested to talk to an employee, a 26-year-old woman. Another employee, a 49-year-old woman, informed the Pittsville woman that the 26-year-old was busy and could not meet face-to-face.
The Pittsville woman then stated in a threatening tone that the 26-year-old should stay away from her husband or else. The 49-year-old asked the Pittsville woman to leave the business because of the vulgar language she was using.
The 49-year-old and 26-year-old would like no further contact from the Pittsville woman and wanted the message relayed to her that she is no longer welcome at the business. A message was left by phone for the Pittsville woman to contact police to warn her of her conduct.
Saturday, May 21
Purse reported stolen at Braem Park
A Marshfield woman reported leaving her purse unattended at Braem Park for 20 minutes between 7:40 and 8 p.m. When the woman returned, she discovered that the purse and its contents had been taken.
Police checked the area to attempt to find the stolen items but did not locate anything. An officer also tried to locate the phone that was in the purse but was unsuccessful.
Man with multiple warrants taken into custody
Police took a 26-year-old man with Wood and Clark County warrants into custody at the Marshfield Police Department. After booking he was transported to Wood County Jail.
Sunday, May 22
Police investigate Central Avenue disturbance
At 2:27 a.m. a 25-year-old Marshfield man reported being physically attacked by a group of people on the 700 block of S. Central Ave., causing him to have a bloody lip. The man was very intoxicated and did not give a consistent account of what happened.
In speaking with witnesses, police learned that the Marshfield man punched a 22-year-old Mosinee man before walking home. The Mosinee man did not want charges pursued. The Marshfield man was told to contact the police department once he is sober if he has further information to provide.
Man taken into custody for operating while revoked
Police took a 22-year-old Marshfield man into custody on the 700 block of E. Third St. for operating while revoked – operating while under the influence-related. He was transported to the Marshfield Police Department, booked, and released.
Monday, May 23
Marshfield man reports identity theft
At 8:42 a.m. a Marshfield man reported that an unknown offender had attempted to establish a credit card using his personal identifying information through the same company with which he already has a credit card. The man’s credit card company notified him of the attempted transaction, which took place online.
The man had his current credit card locked. Police advised him to contact the credit bureaus to determine if there have been any other successful attempts to steal his identity and that he should periodically monitor his credit reports for suspicious activity.
Twenty-one-year-old with warrant taken into custody
Police took a 21-year-old Marshfield man into custody for a valid Wood County warrant. The man was booked, transported to Wood County Jail after being unable to post the required $2,000 bond, and then released to the jail staff’s care.
Tuesday, May 24
Man arrested for OAR, fourth offense
At 9:57 a.m. police arrested a 46-year-old Marshfield man on the 600 block of W. Arnold St. for operating after revocation, fourth offense. He was transported to the Marshfield Police Department, where he was booked. He posted bond and was released.
The man also had an open case through Wood County, and charges will be forwarded for misdemeanor bail jumping.
Woman with two Wood County warrants arrested
Police arrested a 30-year-old Marshfield woman on the 1700 block of N. Central Ave. for two valid Wood County warrants. She was transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking procedures. She was unable to post the bond and was transported to Wood County Jail.
