Spencer/Columbus football routs Neillsville/Granton
Rockets score seven TDs in first half of road win

NEILLSVILLE — The Spencer/Columbus Catholic football team responded in a big way after suffering its first loss of the season a week ago.
The Rockets scored seven first-half touchdowns to obliterate Neillsville/Granton 49-14 in a Cloverbelt Conference game Friday night at Neillsville High School.
Hunter Luepke and Noah Zastrow each ran for three touchdowns, and Jacob Miller added another rushing score for the Rockets, who opened up a 49-6 lead by halftime.
“I was happy with our effort and intensity,” Rockets coach Jason Gorst said. “Our guys had a heck of a week of practice.”
Spencer/Columbus improves to 3-1 overall and in the Cloverbelt Conference. Neillsville/Granton falls to 0-4 and 0-3 in the conference.
Luepke had TD runs of 19, 25, and 69 yards while rushing for 141 yards on just six carries. Zastrow scored from 5, 49, and 37 yards out, and on his five total carries he gained 108 yards.
Spencer/Columbus outgained the Warriors 380-157 overall, including 309-98 on the ground. Neillsville/Granton averaged just 2.3 yards per carry running the ball.
The Rockets return to action next Friday at Colby.
