Marcella D. Zamow
Marcella D. Zamow, 80, Marshfield, passed away on Monday, Sept. 19, 2016 at Ministry St. Joseph’s Palliative Care, Marshfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 23, 2016 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield, where the visitation will be held from 9 a.m. on Friday until service time. Rev. Samuel Martin will officiate. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Marcella was born on Feb. 7, 1936 in Milwaukee to Boleslaus and Sally (Woida) Serdynski. She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, Milwaukee and Cardinal Stritch University. She married Walter R. Zamow on June 24, 1961 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Milwaukee and they enjoyed 47 years together until he passed away on May 26, 2009.
Marcella had been a lecturer at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Chemistry Department for eighteen years. She and her husband later owned and operated Pla-Mor Lanes bowling alley in Ladysmith for a number of years. They moved to Marshfield in 1988. Marcella then was employed as a computer programmer – analyst at the Marshfield Clinic Information Systems for 10 years until her retirement.
Marcella enjoyed raising her children, cooking, reading, bowling, fishing, watching football and traveling in the United States after retirement.
She is survived by 4 children, Thomas (Debbie) Zamow of Ramona, CA, Denise Zamow of Marshfield, Richard (Anne) Zamow of San Diego, CA, and William (Pam) Zamow of Ladysmith. She is also survived by 5 step grandchildren and 10 great step grandchildren. She is further survived by a brother, Gerald (Ellen) Serdynski and a sister, Violet Wroblewski, all of Milwaukee and by many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Walter, her parents and a brother, Lawrence Serdynski.
