Laverne M. “Mutze” Fahey, 92 died on Tuesday, Oct.  18, 2016 at Golden Living Center, Abbotsford, Wisconsin, with her loving family by her side.

Mutze was born on Oct. 3, 1924 in Rozellville, Wisconsin, Town of Day, to Louis and Agnes (Gemski) Kraus. She was united in marriage to John “Jack” Fahey on Nov. 10, 1943 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Rozellville. Jack died on Nov.  13, 1996.

Mutze and Jack owned and operated Fahey’s Bar and Ballroom for 35 years. Mutze lived most of her life in Rozellville until the last few years due to declining health.

She was very active with the women’s group at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church. She worked most of the elections as a poll worker. She also bowled in bowling leagues in Rozellville. She achieved many scores.

Mutze is survived by her daughter Sharon (Scott) Clifton of Holcomb, WI and her son, John “Duke” (Janice) Fahey of Madison, WI. She is also survived by her 4 grandchildren, Tracey (Jim Hoffman) Laffan, Lisa (Eric Elvekrog) Fahey, Troy Clifton and Denise (Ben) Fahey Maves. She is also survived by her loving great grandchildren, Taylor (Coyle) Laffan, Delaney Laffan, Colin Severn, Keegan Severn, Logan Maves, Evan Maves, Kylee Clifton, Kolby Clifton and Megan and Alex Elvekrog. She is further survived by sisters, Marion Jakubowski, Virginia Stauber, Agnes Rehlinger and Marilyn (Richard) Wagner, brothers, Louis (Dorothy) Kraus, Jerry (Jean) Kraus, Thomas (Margaret) Kraus, James (Irene) Kraus and Kenneth (Mary) Kraus. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as lifelong friends and their families, Alice Brown, Betty Martin, Beth Erickson and Rena Albrecht.

She was predeceased by her husband Jack, her parents, her great granddaughter, Cassidy Laffan, her brothers, Charles Kraus, LeRoy Kraus, Edward Kraus, sisters, Anita “Pete” Pokallus, Lorraine Mancl and Margie Oertel.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Rozellville, with Rev. Sengole Vethamanickam officiating. Burial will be in St. Andrew’s Parish Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 from 9 a.m. until the time of service at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Rozellville. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in Mutze’s name at a later date.
