Action and dysfunction lead to laughs in ‘Bedroom Farce’

MARSHFIELD — A high-strung couple, whose marriage is on the rocks, inflicts its miseries on three other married couples with troubles of their own in “Bedroom Farce,” presented by UW-Marshfield/Wood County’s Campus Community Players Nov. 3-5 at 7:30 p.m. and a matinee Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. in the Helen Connor Laird Theater.
Written by Alan Ayckbourn, “Bedroom Farce” will be directed by Damian Ernest, assistant professor of communications and theatre arts. The comedy features three beds on the stage, giving the audience a glimpse inside the bedrooms and personal relationships of the characters over one Saturday evening.
“I was drawn by a play that derives much of its humor by disregarding audience expectations. ‘Bedroom Farce’ is not truly a farce for instance. And while there are beds on stage, they are used for mostly innocent purposes. It’s alternately foolish, hilarious, bittersweet, and driven by people who are essentially warm-hearted and trying their best though struggling and oftentimes failing,” said Ernest.
The cast includes Roxie Wetterau, Greg Jackan, Aaron Pospyhalla, Jillian Jackan, Zachary Gotz, Bridget Donahue, Marshall Van Over, and Chelsea Judnic.
Tickets $12 and can be purchased online at msftickets.uwc.edu or by phone 715-389-6534.
