Pool Study Committee seeks public input
For Hub City Times
MARSHFIELD — The city of Marshfield is hosting a public information meeting regarding a new outdoor aquatic center on Dec. 7 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Wildwood Station Building in Wildwood Park. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. It is an open house format, so attendees may stop by any time.
The city’s current Hefko Pool was built in 1934 and has not been significantly upgraded since 1974. The pool is named after former Mayor Theodore Hefko, who spearheaded the original project.
In 2000 Marshfield conducted a pool study, which recommended the construction of a new facility at the same location as Hefko Pool for $3.2 million. However, no facility was ever constructed.
Earlier this year, the Marshfield Common Council appointed the Pool Study Committee to research potential options and provide design ideas for the community’s consideration. The committee has been working with Ayers Associates, an engineering/architecture firm, on designs. Design ideas will be on display at the meeting, and committee representatives will be present to collect feedback.
