Marathon cruises past Auburndale girls basketball
Apaches drop to 3-4 this season

AUBURNDALE — Marathon pulled out to a 20-point lead by halftime and cruised to a 65-26 victory over Auburndale in a Marawood Conference South Division girls basketball game Monday night at Auburndale High School.
Marathon (5-1, 3-0 Marawood South) led 31-11 at the break and outscored the Apaches by 19 in the second half to provide the final margin.
Auburndale (3-4, 2-2 Marawood South) was held to nine made field goals. Four were made by Marissa Ponshock, who had a team-high nine points in the loss.
Marathon statistics were not provided. The Raiders play at home against first-place Stratford (8-0, 4-0 Marawood South) in a battle of conference unbeatens on Thursday. Auburndale is at Northland Lutheran.
