Robert L. Shive, 85, died peacefully, surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016 at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016 at St. Kilian’s Catholic Church in Blenker. The Rev. Jessie Burish will officiate.
Family will receive relatives and friends at the church from 9 a.m. until time of the service at the church. Interment of ashes will be in St. Kilian’s Catholic Cemetery in Blenker at a later date. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Robert was born Jan. 16, 1931, in Snow Shoe, PA, to Robert & Mary (Gensimore) Shive. His adult life was spent in the Paper Industry, retiring in 1996 from Georgia Pacific Corporation in Nekoosa as Papermill Superintendent. After retiring from GP, he spent five years consulting in paper mills in South America, Brazil, Mexico, and Chili. He also drove motor coach for Lamers Bus Lines in Wisconsin Rapids.
Bob has two sons, Steven and Robert, and two daughters, Debra and Amy from a former marriage.
He married Betty L. Roginski, June 8, 1996 in Wisconsin Rapids.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, sons, Steven (Shelle) Shive of Levittown, PA; Robert E. Shive of Schenectady, NY; daughters, Debra (Jerry) E’nama of Portage, MI; and Amy (John) Kowzan of Grand Island, NY; grandchildren, Katie (Al) Coffman, MI; Brooke (Joe) Jamison, PA; Ryan Shive, PA; Julia Kowzan, FL; & Emily (Bret) Ritter, NYC; Jamie (Brian) Gannon, Robert (Tracy) Shive, Kaylee (Joe) Stella and Kelsey Shive all of NY; great-grandchildren Amelia & Logan Coffman, Henry & Ella Jamison, Breslyn & Grady Gannon, Mason & Carter Shive, and Jack Riley Ritter. He is further survived by one sister Grace (Dale) Stebner of Williamsport, PA and several nieces and nephews; four step-children, Michael (Joy) Roginski, of Pittsville, Steven Roginski, Dale (Lisa) Roginski, of Wisconsin Rapids, Kelly (Kevin) Breu of Auburndale; step-grandchildren, Amy (Jim) Goodenough; Jacob, Nathan and Samuel Roginski of Wisconsin Rapids; Jason (Erica) Roginski of De Forest; Amanda, Kyle (Paige) and Elizabeth Breu of Auburndale; Michael (Jen) Lilly of Medford; Dillon Lilly of Plover; great-grandchildren Rease & Bentley Goodenough; and step-children Michael, David, Heather & Alison Beebe.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Collette (Lyle) Robinson, Eileen (Joseph) Garrett and by his granddaughter, Beth Ann E’nama and step-grandson Drew Breu.
Bob loved fishing, hunting and playing cards with friends and family and his faithful companion, Abby, who never left his side. Bob was a loving father to his children and his step-children and grandchildren. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, great storytelling, being a jokester and for his quick wit.
Thank you to the staff at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital for the wonderful care you gave to Bob. In lieu of flowers donations can be made towards St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
