Marshfield man apprehended on active warrants

MARSHFIELD — On Jan. 23 at 4:42 p.m., Marshfield Police Department officers were dispatched to 314A West Third Street, Marshfield to make contact with a 27-year old Marshfield male who had active warrants and was the subject of an ongoing drug and child neglect investigation.
Upon arrival, the subject barricaded himself alone within his residence, armed himself with a knife, and threatened to harm himself. Officers set up a perimeter, barricaded Third Street at Walnut Avenue and Spruce Avenue at Fourth Street and Second Street, evacuated the downstairs tenants of the residence, and placed Marshfield ambulance on standby.
Crisis negotiators made contact and successfully began negotiating with the subject at 6:45 p.m. At 9:45 p.m. the subject complied with the crisis negotiator and came out of the residence to surrender to police unharmed.
Brandon E.L. Franklin was taken into custody and was transported to Saint Joseph’s Hospital, where he was admitted overnight for evaluation. He was released and transported to the Wood County Jail at 2 p.m. on Jan. 24.
Franklin was charged with:
—Possession of methamphetamine (felony).
—Possession drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor).
—Child neglect (misdemeanor).
—Failure to comply with officer attempts to take into custody (felony).
—Battery, domestic abuse-related (misdemeanor).
—Bail jumping (misdemeanor).
—Warrant apprehension: disorderly conduct, domestic abuse-related (misdemeanor).
