George R. Loesch
“Uncle” George R. Loesch, 85, Marshfield, died on Monday, January 23, 2017 at House of the Dove, Marshfield.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 27, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Stratford, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 12:30 pm until service time. Military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6352 of Stratford. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
George was born on June 10, 1931 in Chicago, IL, to George Joseph and August Bernice (Wilkowski) Loesch. He had proudly served in the United States Army from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1953.
George moved to Tomahawk in 1973 where he owned in partnership the Tomahawk Lodge until 1978. He later moved to Stratford where he resided until 2007 when he relocated to Marshfield.
While in Tomahawk he had served as Lincoln County Clerk for 2 years. George loved Stratford. His greatest joy for many years was attending all Stratford High School sports and handing out candy to the students. He was affectionately called “Uncle George” by everyone.
George is survived by 4 nephews, William C. (Janet) Stuart of Stratford, Kenneth J. Stuart of Santee, CA, George J. (Martha) Stuart of Illinois, and John W. (Lori) Stuart of El Cajon, CA. He is also survived by 4 great nephews, 2 great nieces, 2 special great great nephews and 1 special great great niece and many good friends in Stratford.
He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Elaine Bernice Stuart.
