Façade Improvement Program returns for 2017
For Hub City Times
MARSHFIELD — After previous successes, the Economic Development Board has decided to reintroduce the Façade Improvement Program for 2017.
Jason Angell, director of development services for the city of Marshfield, has been a lead in getting this program reignited. Angell stated that, “This program has been a huge success for Marshfield, mostly due to the overwhelming support it has received over the years and the visual benefit it has had on the area.” The Economic Development Board is allotting $50,000 for the 2017 grant program.
Last year was the first time the program allowed applicants to apply for back alley façade improvements. Applicants will once again be able to include rear façades in their applications.
A handful of properties took advantage of this option, making their back alley entrances more functional, visible, and inviting. Main Street Marshfield Executive Director Angie Eloranta stated that, “Improvement of the rear building facades is a priority for the downtown and will encourage more people to use the parking lots.”
Buildings within the Tax Incremental Financing District No. 4 are eligible to apply, and the first round of applications will be reviewed on March 1. The program details and the application are available at mainstreetmarshfield.com.
