SPENCER — On Jan. 31, approximately 50 volunteers spent the morning visiting 10 local school districts to kick off the Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s annual Crystal Apple program.
Volunteers stopped by classrooms to present teachers with a gift, sponsored by Marshfield Clinic Health System, and encouraged children to nominate teachers that have made an impact.
Nominated teachers are placed on ballots and voted on by their peers to determine the educators deserving of the recognition. Votes then determine the Teachers of Distinction.
Teachers of Distinction then give a presentation on their teaching philosophies to a selection team, which picks four Crystal Apple winners.
All Teachers of Distinction and Crystal Apple recipients are honored at the Crystal Apple banquet held in the fall.
This is the 15th year for the program.
