McDonell pulls past Columbus Catholic to win first-place game of Cloverbelt boys basketball crossovers
Dons finish regular season at 20-2

ALTOONA — Chippewa Falls McDonell pulled away in the second half to beat Marshfield Columbus Catholic 75-66 in the first-place game of the Cloverbelt Conference boys basketball crossovers on Saturday afternoon at Altoona High School.
The game was tied 36-36 at halftime before the Macks pulled out the win with a 39-30 advantage in the second half.
Tyler Fuerlinger scored 21 points, and Charles Payant and Nick Malovrh each added 14 for the Dons, who suffered just their second loss and finish the regular season with a 20-2 record.
Alex Ohde led McDonell (19-3) with 25 points.
Columbus Catholic, the No. 1 seed in its sectional bracket, hosts Bowler in a WIAA Division 5 regional quarterfinal at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The game will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and wdlbwosq.com.
