Neillsville/Granton holds off Columbus Catholic softball
Seefluth, Litwaitis each have three hits for Dons

NEILLSVILLE — Neillsville/Granton scored nine runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to beat Marshfield Columbus Catholic 14-13 in a wild Cloverbelt Conference East Division softball game Tuesday at Neillsville High School.
Columbus Catholic, playing in its season opener, came back from a 5-1 deficit to take a 6-5 lead with five runs in the top of the fifth inning.
Neillsville/Granton (2-0, 1-0 Cloverbelt East) responded with nine runs in the bottom of the inning.
The Dons came back with five more runs in the top of the sixth and two in the seventh to cut the deficit to one but could not get the tying run across.
Columbus pounded out 13 hits, three each from Maren Seefluth and Sierra Litwaitis.
Brianna Roehl had a home run and three RBIs for the Warriors.
Columbus walked 15 batters and committed six errors in the loss.
The Dons host Loyal at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.
