MARSHFIELD — A year ago Marshfield American Legion Post 54 felt a need to provide a place for local veterans, regardless of affiliation or date of service, to join together. Through these gatherings, veterans are able to develop friendship and at times even help each other deal with difficulties held over from their service.
Starting in June 2016, Legion Post 54 began hosting these group gatherings on a monthly basis. JJ’s Bakery of Marshfield supplies baked goods while Legion Post 54 provides the coffee, milk, juice, and space for veterans to come together.
The session on April 7, 2017, was Legion Post 54’s 11th Vet Talk. On that day 12 veterans representing World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and the Gulf War gathered around the table for free donuts, coffee, cookies, and conversation.
Vet Talks are held at Marshfield American Legion Post 54 on the first Friday of the month from 9-10:30 a.m.
