HART Equine Therapy Center assists those with disabilities

AUBURNDALE — Horses And Riders Together (HART) Equine Therapy Center Inc. is a nonprofit organization that provides therapeutic horse riding lessons along with teaching grooming and horse handling skills for both children and adults who have special needs or challenges.
HART offers therapeutic horse riding to adults and children with special needs like ADD/ADHD; addiction and substance abuse problems; amputations; autism spectrum disorder; cerebral palsy, cognitive defects, developmental delay, down syndrome; emotional and behavioral challenges; hearing, speech, and visual impairments; learning disabilities; and multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, orthopedic conditions, paralysis, spina bifida, spinal cord injury, stroke, and traumatic brain injury.
Proven benefits of horse-related activities include teaching teamwork; problem solving; facing fears; confidence and self-esteem building; and improving communication skills, social interaction, strength, and flexibility.
HART Equine Therapy Center also offers an opportunity for people to volunteer their services. Volunteer opportunities can be horse-related or involve office duties, special events, or facility services.
