MARSHFIELD — Marshfield Utilities has received national recognition for achieving exceptional electric reliability in 2016. The recognition comes from the American Public Power Association (APRA), a trade group that represents more than 2,000 not-for-profit, community-owned electric utilities, like Marshfield Utilities.
APRA helps members track outage and restoration data through its subscription-based eReliability Tracker service and then compares the data to national statistics collected by the U.S. Energy Information Administration for all types of electric utilities.
“This recognition helps demonstrate public power’s commitment to reliable electric service,” said APRA’s Senior Vice President of Engineering Services Michael Hyland.
“We are proud to receive this recognition. It is a testament to the hard work of all our staff to ensure that the lights stay on for all our customers,” said Marshfield Utilities Electric, Communications, and Gas Manager Nicolas Kumm. Each year Marshfield Utilities places high priority on completing preventative maintenance activities, tree trimming, and replacing aged facilities, endeavors that strengthen the distribution system.
“It takes a concerted effort by many of our employees to maintain this level of reliability,” said Marshfield Utilities General Manager Bob Trussoni. “I am proud of their achievement in receiving this recognition.”
“Marshfield Utilities is always ready to respond night and day. Our employees live in and are part of the community that we serve, so they have a strong sense of ownership,” stated Kumm.
