Loyal holds off Columbus Catholic baseball
Second Dons’ comeback falls short in final at-bat

MARSHFIELD — Loyal scored three times in the top of the seventh inning and held off a late rally to beat Columbus Catholic 10-9 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division baseball game Thursday night at Jack Hackman Field.
Loyal (6-5, 5-3 Cloverbelt East) led 7-0 after three innings before the Dons mounted a comeback, tying the game at 7-7 with a six-run sixth.
After the Greyhounds scored three times in the top of the seventh, Columbus scored twice in the bottom of the inning but could not get the tying run across.
Three Columbus pitchers combined for 10 walks in the loss.
Ryan Dieringer, Charles Payant, Tyler Fuerlinger, and Bailey Keffer each had two hits for Columbus (2-6, 2-5 Cloverbelt East).
The Dons play at Granton on Friday.
