Marshfield boys tennis edges Wisconsin Rapids, stays unbeaten in WVC
Tigers sweep three doubles matches

MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield boys tennis team took a big step toward to its quest for a Wisconsin Valley Conference championship after outlasting Wisconsin Rapids 4-3 in a dual meet Thursday at the Boson Tennis Complex at Marshfield High School.
Both teams came into the match undefeated in the WVC. Marshfield improves to 4-0 with one meet remaining on its conference schedule: May 11 at Wausau West. Wisconsin Rapids is now 2-1.
Evan Fait won at No. 1 singles over Ryan Graczkowski 7-5, 6-1 for Marshfield, and the Tigers swept the three doubles matches to hold on for the win.
Derek Reckner and Jared Cordova won at No. 1 doubles 4-6, 6-1, 6-4; John Fay and Will Fay rolled 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2; and Luke Kaiser and Ayush Shukla cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 3 for Marshfield.
Marshfield will compete at the Wausau West Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
