Vita Bella Gala to take place May 12

MARSHFIELD — The eighth annual Vita Bella Gala benefitting the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Marshfield will be a “Roaring ‘20s-Jazz Age” celebration.
The event will be May 12 at RiverEdge Golf Course. It begins with a reception and silent auction at 5:30 p.m., and then dinner at 7 p.m. will followed by a program, live auction, and music from Hub City Jazz.
Chairing this year’s event are Lori and Jake Gropp of Marshfield, and presenting sponsors are Marshfield Clinic Health System and Security Health Plan of Wisconsin Inc.
Dr. William and Karen Hocking of Marshfield will be honored at the gala as the eighth recipients of the American Cancer Society Spirit of Hope award. Past Spirit of Hope honorees are Fritz Wenzel, Margaret Peterson, Dr. Douglas Reding, Marilyn Hardacre, Dick Hofmeister, Larry Shortess, and Mike Schmidt.
Spirit of Hope recipients epitomize community service through their work with Hope Lodge and are recognized for their dedication to people diagnosed with cancer and their families.

Hope Lodge, located at 611 W. Doege St., serves as a home away from home, free of charge, for adult cancer patients and their caregivers. This nonmedical facility aims to offer a sense of community and comfort to cancer patients who must travel to Marshfield to receive treatment typically not available in their home communities.
