Marathon rallies twice to down Auburndale baseball in extra innings
Apaches fall to 6-5

MARATHON — The Auburndale baseball team could not hold one-run leads on two occasions and dropped a 4-3 decision to Marathon in nine innings Thursday at Marathon High School.
The Apaches led 2-0 after 5 innings only to see Marathon score single runs in the sixth and seventh to force extra frames. After Auburndale scored one run in the top of the ninth, Marathon managed to get across two to win the game.
Marathon is now 6-7 overall and 3-5 in the Marawood South. Auburndale drops to 6-5 and 4-5 in conference play.
Logan Willfahrt, Colton Wright, Dylan Altmann, and Trayton Weister each had two hits for Auburndale.
Auburndale plays at Northland Lutheran on Friday.
