Weiler spins pair of shutouts for Tigers

WAUSAU — The Stratford softball team swept a pair of Marawood Conference South Division games on Tuesday at Sunnyvale Park, knocking off Wausau Newman Catholic 5-0 and Northland Lutheran 18-0.
Stratford is now 15-6 overall and 8-3 in the Marawood South heading into its conference finale Thursday at home against Auburndale. The Tigers host Spencer in a nonconference game, and its final regular-season game, on Friday.
Kiana Weiler pitched both games for the Tigers, allowing a total of seven hits and no walks.
Against Newman (4-8, 4-7 Marawood South), Weiler struck out nine and scattered three hits in the win.
Sammy Griesbach was 3-for-4 and scored twice, and Cassidy VanDerLeest had a single, a double, and three RBIs for Stratford.
Weiler was 4-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Val Licciardi was 4-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored for the Tigers against Northland Lutheran (3-8, 2-8 Marawood South).
Brittany Bredemann, Griesbach, Anna Golbach, and Sammy Kaiser added two hits apiece for Stratford.
