MARSHFIELD — Marshfield freshman Nina Hashimoto was named to the first team, and senior Maddie Haessly earned second-team honors on the 2017 All-Wisconsin Valley Conference Girls Soccer Team, as voted on by the seven conference coaches.
Hashimoto led the Tigers in scoring during the conference season with eight goals, good for third in the Valley. With her two assists, she accumulated 18 points, which tied for third in the WVC.
Hashimoto, a forward, was one of two freshmen picked to the first team along with D.C. Everest’s Maddie Simpson.
“Nina was a freshman who took off once she was moved to forward from midfield,” Marshfield coach Steve Lindner said. “She has great foot skills and ball control.”
Haessly was a second-team pick for the second year in a row after tallying four goals and two assists in the Valley as the Tigers finished 5-7 and tied for fourth place with Wausau West. Overall, she had eight goals and three assists to finish with 27 goals and eight assists in her career.
“Maddie possesses above average speed and many times got behind defenders with her speed and used it to complement Nina and open things up for our offense,” Lindner said.
Senior defender Emily Critelli and freshman defender Ana Paape were honorable mention choices for Marshfield.
Critelli earned all-conference honors for the third time in her career as she was a second-team pick as a sophomore and was an honorable mention pick last year as well.
“Emily is always the anchor of our defense,” Lindner said. “She was very vocal as she was the leader and constantly communicated to the entire defense. Ana used her speed and knowledge of the game to win many battles with any player she matched up against.”
Conference champion D.C. Everest had four first-team selections, including senior defender Dorene Sanchez, who was named Player of the Year.
