Marshfield Legion baseball splits doubleheader at Antigo, tops D.C. Everest in regular-season finale
Blue Devils begin regional play Tuesday

ANTIGO — The Marshfield Post 54 American Legion baseball team split a doubleheader with Antigo on Thursday night.
The Blue Devils won 3-2 and lost 7-0 to remain at .500 this season, moving their record to 11-11.
Marshfield was held to just four hits in the opener but plated two runs in the third and won it with a run in the seventh when Austin Palacek reached on an error and Ryan Krueger, who led off the inning with a single, scored.
Jake Brueggen went the distance for the Blue Dvils, striking out five and walking one in a complete-game five-hitter.
In the second game, Antigo pitchers A.J. Kirsch and Nick Marshall limited Marshfield to just three hits to combine for the shutout.
Marshfield finishes its regular-season schedule with a Wisconsin Valley Legion League game at D.C. Everest on Friday night.
SCHOFIELD — The Marshfield Post 54 American Legion baseball team ended its regular-season schedule on a high note, beating D.C. Everest 3-2 in a Wisconsin Valley Legion League game Friday night at Simon Field.
Marshfield is now 12-11 overall and finishes its WVLL schedule with a 7-5 mark. The Blue Devils will be off until Class AAA regional play begins Tuesday at Plover.
Marshfield scored two runs in the top of the first inning, added another in the fourth to take a 3-0 lead, and held on from there.
Krueger had an RBI single, and Branden Montalvo walked with the bases loaded to put the Blue Devils up 2-0 in the first.
Logan Jakobi’s RBI single scored Conner Berry in the fourth to make it 3-0, and the Blue Devils’ pitching did the rest.
Dawson Brock allowed one unearned run in four innings, and Hunter Korger pitched the final five, striking out seven and giving up another single tally to Everest in the eighth inning.
Marshfield was limited to six hits, two from Jacob Neve, who hit in the leadoff spot. Andrew Barnanowski went 3-for-5 for Everest.
