She then stayed home to care for her younger siblings upon her mother’s sudden death. After her youngest sibling graduated from high school, she moved to Milwaukee where she met and was married to Francis C. Binder on December 11, 1943. He predeceased her on June 6, 1980. In 1963, the family moved to Auburndale where Alvera and Francis ran Binder’s Bar. Alvera worked at Auburndale Homes as a “window decorator” and she also shared custodial duties with Francis at St. Mary’s Church and School for many years. Her favorite jobs though were being a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.
Upon Francis’ illness, Alvera and Francis moved to Bellevue, NE to be nearer their son Frank and his family. Aside from a few years living in Port St. Lucie, FL with her husband Chuck, she resided at Bellevue, NE and was there until the time of her death.
