Marshfield girls swimming eighth at Chippewa Falls Sprints

Franks takes second in 500 for Tigers

CHIPPEWA FALLS — The Marshfield girls swim team placed eighth among 10 teams at the Chippewa Falls Sprint Invitational on Saturday at Chippewa Falls Middle School.

The Tigers totaled 172 points, six behind seventh-place La Crosse. Rhinelander won the team title with 295 points.

Marshfield had seven individuals with top-10 finishes, led by freshman Alyssa Franks taking second place in the 500-yard freestyle (5:49.35).

Kaitlin Alberts was third in the 100 individual medley in 1:09.24 for the Tigers’ other top-five finish. She also placed sixth in the 50 butterfly (30.16).

Hope Risa was sixth in the 100 freestyle (1:02.28) and 10th in the 100 individual medley (1:10.60), and Sophie Koehn was eighth in the 50 butterfly (30.52) and ninth in the 50 freestyle (27.81).

Elizabeth Lecker was 11th in the 100 freestyle (1:05.99) for the Tigers.

Marshfield is at Stevens Point for a Wisconsin Valley Conference dual meet on Tuesday and will host La Crosse on Thursday in a nonconference dual.
