Thursday, Sept. 14
Retail theft, bail jumping charges requested
At 4:19 p.m. loss prevention officers at a store on the 1100 block of W. Upham St. reported observing a 26-year-old woman conceal multiple items in her purse and exit the store without paying for them.
Contact was made with the woman, and the items were recovered. The items, which included energy drinks, bubbles, candy, and spray chalk, had a total value of $22.63.
Charges for retail theft and three counts of felony bail jumping will be forwarded to the Wood County district attorney.
Saturday, Sept. 16
Theft suspect provides fake identification
Officers responded to a report of a retail theft on the 2000 block of N. Central Ave. at 2:49 p.m. Upon receiving a citation for the theft, the suspect, a 24-year-old man, provided false identification. Charges for identity theft were requested.
Monday, Sept. 18
Rented car reported stolen
An employee of a Marshfield car rental company wished to report a rented car as stolen. A 37-year-old Marshfield man had rented a vehicle on Aug. 31 and at the time of the report was 11 days late returning it. The car rental company had attempted calling the man and sending him certified mail with no response.
A stolen vehicle report was completed and entered into the Criminal Investigations Bureau and National Crime Information Center databases.
Police receive reports of vehicles entered, property stolen
A Marshfield man reported that someone had gone into his vehicle some time between 11 p.m. on Sept. 17 and 8 a.m. on Sept. 18 and stole an iPhone charger cord, an auxiliary cord, cologne, and a tire pump. The man said the vehicle, which was parked on the 900 block of S. Central Ave., was unlocked and that a possible suspect was his downstairs neighbor.
Police will contact the neighbor regarding the theft.
Another Marshfield man reported his vehicle, which was parked on the 800 block of S. Central Ave., was broken into as well some time after 11:13 p.m. on Sept. 17. The suspect stole a trauma kit. Investigation will continue.
A Marshfield woman reported someone had entered her unsecured vehicle on the 600 block of S. Cedar Ave. some time between 12:01 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Sept. 18 and stole $4.99 from the interior. The suspect also pulled items out of the glove box and removed a toy from its packaging in the back seat but did not take anything else.
Bicycle stolen from Arnold Street residence
A Marshfield woman reported noticing her son’s bicycle was missing at 7:45 a.m. The bicycle was in a yard on the 300 block of W. Arnold St. The woman did not have any suspects.
Marijuana located during investigation of disturbance
Police responded at 4:17 p.m. to a report of a disturbance at a parking lot on the 1600 block of S. Locust Ave. When officers arrived, there was no sign of a disturbance. The person who reported the disturbance called police again to say the parties involved had returned to a residence.
Police made contact at the residence, and two people admitted to arguing but indicated no domestic abuse had occurred. There was an extremely strong odor of marijuana emanating from inside the residence, and a male subject’s clothing smelled strongly of marijuana as well.
Both parties admitted there was marijuana in the residence, and the male consented to a search. Police located drug items inside the residence.
The man was arrested, transported to the Marshfield Police Department, booked, and then released. Charges are being referred to the Wood County DA’s office.
Tuesday, Sept. 19
Car radio stolen from vehicle on Maple Avenue
A Marshfield woman reported that someone had entered her unlocked vehicle on the 2200 block of S. Maple Ave. some time between 12 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. and stole her car radio. A canvass of the immediate area found no other vehicles were entered. There are no suspects at this time.
Theft suspect drops stolen items, runs away
A loss prevention officer at a store on the 2000 block of N. Central Ave. reported at 5:10 p.m. that an unidentified woman took several items — worth a total of $55.45 — from the store without purchasing them. When confronted, the woman dropped the items and ran toward a nearby business. Investigation will follow.
Wednesday, Sept. 20
Bicycle reported stolen from garage on 18th Street
A Marshfield man reported a bicycle was stolen from a garage on the 400 block of E. 18th St. some time between noon on Sept. 19 and 12:40 p.m. on Sept. 20. No other items were removed from the garage. The garage was unlocked.
Woman arrested for probation violation, man for encouraging the violation
Officers assisted with a probation home visit on the 600 block of N. Ash Ave. at 12:33 p.m. and located a 20-year-old woman and 22-year-old man in violation. The man was previously warned to avoid contact with the woman, which was a violation of her rules.
Both subjects were taken into custody, booked, and transported to Wood County Jail. Charges were requested through the Wood County DA’s office.
Suspicious subject arrested for OWI, meth possession
Police responded at 6:33 a.m. to a report of two suspicious males sitting in a parking lot on the 1700 block of N. Central Ave. Following an investigation, one male was arrested for operating while under the influence (OWI) and possession of methamphetamine. He was medically cleared, booked at the Marshfield Police Department, and then transported to jail. The other man was released.
Man kicks down woman’s door, arrested in Waupaca
Police responded at 8:56 p.m. to a report than at unknown man had forcefully entered a woman’s apartment on the 800 block of E. Harrison St. by kicking down the door. When officers arrived, they were unable to locate the man.
The man’s identity was discovered a short time later, and he was arrested in the city of Waupaca. Officers made contact with the man and interviewed him at the Waupaca County Jail and then transported him to Wood County Jail.
Charges of disorderly conduct, criminal trespass, and criminal damage to property will be sent to the Wood County DA’s office.
Thursday, Sept. 21
Items reported stolen from company vehicle
A Marshfield woman reported that items were stolen from a company van on the 500 block of S. Maple Ave. some time between 3 p.m. on Sept. 17 and 6 a.m. on Sept. 18. Items taken included a car radio, emergency medical push button unit, fire extinguisher, and emergency vehicle kit. There are no suspects.
Kaukauna man arrested for OWI, possession of THC, paraphernalia
Police arrested a 40-year-old Kaukauna man for OWI, fourth offense; possession of THC; and possession of drug paraphernalia near the intersection of Veterans Parkway and Central Avenue at 2:21 a.m. The man submitted to a blood draw, was booked at the Marshfield Police Department, and was ultimately transported to Wood County Jail. Charges are being forwarded to the Wood County DA.
Man cited for OAR
At 8:46 p.m. a 30-year-old Marshfield man was arrested during a traffic stop on the 1600 block of S. Maple Ave. for operating after revocation, OWI-related. He was transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking procedures, cited, and released.
Marshfield woman with warrant jailed
Police took a 25-year-old Marshfield woman into custody on the 700 block of S. Cherry Ave. on a valid felony Department of Corrections warrant. She was transported to the Marshfield Police Department, where she was booked, and then to Wood County Jail.
Friday, Sept. 22
Unidentified woman fails to pay for fuel
Police received a report of a gas drive-off that occurred at a station on the 2000 block of N. Central Ave. at 4:45 p.m. on Sept. 21. An unidentified woman pumped $11.53 worth of gas and left without paying for it.
The registered owner of the vehicle the woman drove was a 25-year-old Oshkosh man. An officer requested the Oshkosh Police Department attempt to contact the registered owner at his last known address.
An Oshkosh officer reported the owner of the vehicle no longer lived at the listed address and did not have any listed phone numbers. No further action was taken.
Saturday, Sept. 23
Tools stolen from truck on Central Avenue
A Marshfield man reported that some time between midnight and 4:30 a.m. on Sept. 16, a tool belt and various tools were stolen from the back of his truck, which was parked on the 400 block of S. Central Ave. The man also reported noticing two males — approximately 18-25 years old, one wearing a backpack — near his vehicle that evening and suspected they may have stolen the items. Investigation will continue.
Wallet reported stolen at Upham Avenue store
A Stratford man reported at 2:51 p.m. that he forgot his wallet at the checkout counter of a store on the 1100 block of W. Upham St., and when he returned, it was gone. Security footage showed what appeared to be a family of four individuals who checked out shortly after the man picking up the wallet and presumably leaving with it as no one had reported finding the wallet to employees.
In the wallet were various credit cards, the man’s driver’s license, and $42 in cash. The man was advised to cancel his credit cards, and police will do more follow-up with the store’s loss prevention office for possibly better images of the suspects.
Neillsville man arrested for OWL
At 3:15 p.m. police arrested a 53-year-old Neillsville man on the 100 block of E. 17th St. for operating without a valid license, second offense. The man was brought to the Marshfield Police Department, booked, and then released.
Sunday, Sept. 24
Man warned for trespassing after taking fire pit
A Marshfield woman reported that her ex, a 33-year-old Marshfield man, came to her residence and took a fire pit without permission. She said there have been ongoing property disputes since their breakup. Police contacted the man, who said the fire pit was his.
During the investigation, it was unable to be determined who purchased the fire pit. Both parties agreed that all property was to be returned by Sept. 27, or the man would be issued a citation for trespassing.
Marshfield man found in violation of bond restriction
Police responded at 9:42 a.m. to a report of a 29-year-old Marshfield man causing a disturbance on the 600 block of St Joseph Ave. Contact was made with the man, and it was found that he was in violation of his bond restriction.
The man was transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking procedures and later taken to Wood County Jail. Charges are being requested through the Wood County DA’s office.
Woman burns lawn chair, arrested for OWI
Police responded at 9:08 p.m. to a report of a disturbance at a residence on the 1000 block of S. Cedar Ave. A 49-year-old Marshfield woman had reportedly been at the residence yelling and and swearing. When asked to leave, she refused, continued yelling, and then took a lawn chair and threw it into a fire pit, which destroyed the chair. She then drove away.
Officers contacted the woman at her residence and subsequently arrested her for OWI, first offense. She was also issued citations for disorderly conduct, operating without a valid driver’s license, and criminal damage to property and was then released to a sober adult.
