EDGAR — Undefeated Edgar’s stingy defense proved to be too much as the Wildcats blanked Stratford 10-0 in what turned out to be the Marawood Conference football championship game on Friday night at Edgar High School.
Both teams came into the game unbeaten in the Marawood, and the always much-anticipated matchup did not disappoint.
Stratford, which had scored at least 35 points in each of its last five games, was held scoreless by an Edgar defense that has allowed only 12 points all season, all of which came in a win over Marathon two weeks ago.
Edgar improves to 9-0 overall and finishes 6-0 in the Marawood. Stratford drops to 7-2 and 5-1 in conference play.
Both teams will learn their WIAA playoff opponents on Saturday.
