Mother, son charged with drug trafficking

WISCONSIN RAPIDS — From May to July 2017, Marshfield police conducted a series of controlled buys of marijuana using a confidential informant at an East Fourth Street home.
According to the criminal complaint, during each of the three meetings, money was exchanged in the purchase of a substance that was confirmed by testing to contain THC.
On July 31 a warrant was executed at the home of Tyler J. Hasting and his mother, Wanda M. Schmidt. There police found THC and drug paraphernalia.
Hasting was charged in Wood County Circuit Court with three counts of manufacture/delivery of THC second and above offense, possession of THC second and above offense, and maintaining a drug trafficking place.
Schmidt is being charged with two counts of manufacture/delivery of THC, maintaining a drug trafficking place, and possession of THC.
All charges are class I felonies that come with up to $10,000 in fines and three years and six months imprisonment if guilty.
Hasting, Schmidt, and another individual, Jesse R. Leonard, also present at the time were charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
