Kenneth Albert Bjorkman, 73, died on October 31, 2017, in his home in Marshfield, WI. He was a significant other, father, grandpa, brother, uncle and dear friend to all. Some of you may call him Ken, Kenny or uncle Kenny but his children were lucky to call him dad.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 6, 2017 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, where the visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and on Monday from 10:00 am until service time.
Ken was born August 9, 1944, to Kenneth and Lorraine (Larsen) Bjorkman in Waukegan, Illinois, the oldest of 3 children. He graduated from Waukegan Illinois High School in 1962. After graduation, he was ready to spread his wings and show off his athletic ability by accepting a football scholarship to Moorhead State University and obtained his bachelors in teaching. He was a brother within the Owls Fraternity and many cherished friendships were created.
On August 14, 1965, he married Mardi, and together they had 4 beautiful children – David, Brian, Eric and finally a girl Anne. While they parted ways, they remained friends throughout the years.
Ken did have a partner in life, Karen Brux who was by his side for most of his life until his last breath.
Ken had a 34-year teaching career at the Marshfield Junior and Senior High schools where he taught physical education, health, and was the head football coach and swim coach. One of his greatest accomplishments within his career was the Alternative school program he created and helped troubled teens graduate from high school.
Ken was a great man who was so kind, caring and wise. He had many talents. One of his greatest passions in life was fishing. He passed this passion/skill down to all of his children. He began this hobby as a young age and through the years perfected it and became a professional walleye fisherman. He took great pride in being able to tournament fish with all of his kids and win them.
Ken is survived by partner in life Karen Brux, Marshfield WI, his brother Jeff (Shelly) Waukegan, IL, Sister-In-Law Lori Austin, TX, two sons, Brian (Leah) Fargo, ND, Eric (Mari) Moorhead, MN and daughter, Anne (Dean) Simon, Moorhead, MN. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren – Jared, Joey, Ella, Carter, Anna, Ethan, Aiden and Cade.
He was preceded in death and welcomed into heaven by both parents Ken and Lorraine, brother Bill, son David, grandson Conner and several friends.
Memorials will be designated in his name by his family to the walleye tournaments.
